What’s Under the Hood of Each 2018 Ford Escape Model?

One of the biggest differences between the four new Ford Escape models is what’s found under the hood. The 2018 Ford Escape S features a standard 2.5-liter iVCT I-4 engine offering 168 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque. The 2018 Ford Escape SE and SEL models feature a standard 1.5-liter EcoBoost engine with Auto Start-Stop technology offering 179 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque. The 2018 Ford Escape Titanium features a standard 2.0-liter Twin Scroll EcoBoost engine with Auto Start-Stop technology offering 245 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque. All three of these engines are paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission with SelectShift capability.

Additional Differences Between the Four 2018 Ford Escape Trim Levels

The standard engine isn’t the only thing that’s different about the four 2018 Ford Escape trim levels. Each offers their own safety, technology, comfort and convenience features, as well. For instance, the new Ford Escape S and SE models feature four 12-volt powerpoints, while the new Ford Escape SEL and Titanium models feature three. The 2018 Escape Titanium also gets an upgraded Sony audio system featuring 10 speakers, as well as a remote start system, Intelligent Access with push-button start and the SYNC 3 infotainment system complete with an 8-inch color LCD capacitive touchscreen, AppLink, 911 Assist and two smart-charging USB ports. This system is also standard on the 2018 Escape SEL, while the 2018 Escape S and SE models get the SYNC infotainment system complete with a 4.2-inch color LCD screen and a smart-charging USB port.
