Let’s start with some of the similarities between these two kinds of new Fords. In terms of gas mileage, the outcome is usually a wash, especially when looking at new Ford sedans and hatchbacks. That’s because Ford offers incredibly fuel efficient models in both body types. In fact, models like the 2017 Ford Fiesta and the 2017 Ford Focus offer both sedan and hatchback trims, and both offer unmatched fuel economy. The 2017 Ford Fusion is also unbelievably fuel efficient, though it only comes as a sedan. So, let’s get to the differences. The biggest difference between the two body types is size. Both new Ford sedans and new Ford hatchbacks offer roomy and comfortable interiors for passengers, though new Ford hatchbacks often offer more cargo space, especially since most also offer folding rear seats. But that does come with a caveat. Some people like the closed-off security of a trunk. Don’t get us wrong, hatchbacks are incredibly secure, but people can still look in to see what you’ve got. You can’t do that with a trunk. It should be noted, however, that while people can see in your hatchback, it also means you can see out of it. What we mean by that is that hatchbacks often offer better visibility, especially in the rear. And the hatchback also often offers more headroom for rear passengers. Hatchbacks do have some drawbacks, too. They’re often slightly more expensive, and there tend to be more sedan trims to choose from.
As you can see, it really all comes down to personal preference. If you’d like help making your decision, please contact our friendly and knowledgeable staff here at Brandon Ford in Tampa, FL.
