Well, your choices don’t end there. Once you’ve made the decision to purchase a new Ford Escape, you have to decide which engine is right for you. See, the 2017 Escape comes with the choice between three powerful and efficient engines. It also comes with the choice between front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. To help you decide which setup is the right match for you, we’re going to take a closer look at the engine and performance features of the 2017 Ford Escape.

Which 2017 Ford Escape Powertrain Configuration is Right for You?

As we mentioned, the 2017 Ford Escape comes with the choice between three powerful and efficient engines, all of which are paired with a 6-speed shiftable automatic transmission. The base engine for the new Ford Escape is a 2.5-liter i-VCT four-cylinder engine capable of providing 168 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque while getting 21 miles per gallon in the city and 29 miles per gallon on the highway. The base engine can only be paired with front-wheel drive. A 1.5-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine is also available, which can offer up to 179 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque while getting 23 miles per gallon in the city and 30 miles per gallon on the highway when paired with front-wheel drive, and 22 miles per gallon in the city and 28 miles per gallon on the highway when paired with all-wheel drive. Finally, a 2.0-liter twin-scroll EcoBoost engine is available, which can pump out 245 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque while getting 22 miles per gallon in the city and 29 miles per gallon on the highway when paired with front-wheel drive, and 20 miles per gallon in the city and 27 miles per gallon on the highway when paired with all-wheel drive.
