2017 Ford F-150 10-speed transmission capabilities

Ford has not been shy about trying new things. The list of newly developed features and technologies that will be included on the 2017 F-150 keeps getting longer. One of the features that is sure to draw attention is the all-new 10-speed automatic transmission. The truck will be allowing drivers to keep tabs on the 2017 Ford F-150 10-speed transmission capabilities by including a display on the dash that indicates which gear the truck is currently using.

The all-new transmission will be the first volume-production 10-speed automatic offered to consumers. The transmission utilizes optimized wider-span gear spacing, drag-reduction actions, three overdrive gears and a wider span. These features enable lower-numerical rear-axle ratios that result in improved highway fuel efficiency and maintain the F-150’s impressive towing capabilities.

New F-150 models will offers a variety of drive modes that maximize the transmission’s operation in various conditions. Smarter shift logic utilizes new shift-scheduling algorithms to ensure optimized performance. Tow/haul mode will allow driver to transport any payload with confidence. The sport mode helps maximize driving performance, and adds to the driving enjoyment of the new truck.

As the F-150 shifts between gears, this information will be displayed right on the dashboard in site of the driver.

This great new transmission will first be available on the 2017 Ford F-150. When combined with the all-new 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine, Ford is expecting the truck to offer best-in-class torque for a V6 engine.
