2017 Ford Fusion Safety Rating and Features

The 2017 Ford Fusion has arrived, and is already building a great reputation. The new Fusion just picked up a significant award. The 2017 Ford Fusion Safety rating and features has helped the car earn the designation of Top Safety Plus from the IIHS. This is the highest possible designation offered by the organization.

In order to earn the Top Safety Pick Plus designation, the 2017 Ford Fusion scored well in several categories. The car earned the highest possible rating of “Good” in the moderate-overlap frontal-offset, roof strength, and side-impact crash tests. The Fusion also earned an “Good” rating in the difficult small-overlap frontal-offset test. The car’s head restraints and seatbelts earned “Good” ratings for whiplash protection.

Every new Ford Fusion comes equipped with a long list of standard safety features. These include:

• Antilock disc brakes
• Traction and stability control
• Front-seat airbags
• Front knee airbags
• Side curtain airbags
• Ford Sync System with emergency crash-notification
• Rearview camera

Also included standard on the new Fusion is the Ford MyKey system. This great system allows parents to set speed and area limitations for learning drivers.

Several additional safety systems are also offered on the 2017 Fusion. These include:

• Rear cross-traffic alerts
• Driver drowsiness detection system
• Lane-departure warning and intervention system
• Forward collision warnings with brake priming
• Inflatable rear seatbelts

In addition to all of these safety features, and the IIHS Top Safety Pick Plus designation, the 2017 Ford Fusion earned a five-star government safety rating. This is the highest score awarded.
