The latest edition of Ford’s iconic large sedan will be arriving at dealerships everywhere soon. The 2017 Ford Taurus engine options and performance will set the car apart from the competition. Three total engines will be offered on the car, each offer impressive performance numbers.
Standard equipment on base Taurus trim levels includes a 3.5-lite V-6 engine. This engine gives drivers access to 288 horsepower and 254 pound-feet of torque while earning an estimated 18 miles per gallon in the city and 27 miles per gallon on the highways. The engine can be paired with an all-wheel drive system that will send power to all of the wheels, but drops the fuel economy to 17 city/24 highway mpg.

In addition to the base engine, the 2017 Taurus can be equipped with two turbocharged EcoBoost engine options. First up is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that offers 240 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. This engine turns in the best fuel economy ratings offered on the Taurus at an estimated 20 miles per gallon in the city and 29 miles per gallon on the highways. This engine is only available on front-wheel drive models.
Rounding out the 2017 Taurus engine lineup is Ford’s high-performance EcoBoost 3.5-liter V-6 engine. This engine delivers the best performance numbers offered on the sedan at 365 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. All-wheel drive is standard with the powerful engine. Fuel economy estimates on the EcoBoost V-6 are rated at 16 city/24 highway miles per gallon.
