Making the 2018 Ford Expedition Even More Capable Off-Road
As we mentioned, the 2018 Ford Expedition FX4 Off-Road Package includes a number of features that help make the new Ford Expedition even more capable off-road. These features include a patented electronic limited-slip rear differential, off-road-tuned shocks, all-terrain tires, seven different skid plates, fully unique 18-inch Magnetic Metallic painted cast-aluminum wheels, chrome running boards, FX4 badging on the liftgate and front fender and new rubber floor liners. We’re most excited about the patented electronic limited-slip rear differential, as it optimizes off-road performance in low traction conditions by automatically varying power output side-to-side depending on which wheels need additional traction support. It also improves the 2018 Expedition’s towing performance thanks to 3.73:1 gearing. The seven different skid plates also have us excited as they are your new Expedition’s underbody armor. These skid plates protect your Expedition’s critical areas thanks to a new sand shield, a chin spoiler, steel plates and more.
How the 2018 Ford Expedition FX4 Off-Road Package Optimizes the all-new Terrain Management System
The 2018 Ford Expedition FX4 Off-Road Package also improves the new Expedition’s all-new Terrain Management System by allowing you to select from seven different drive modes. These drive modes allow your new Ford Expedition to easily handle any and all road conditions, including any and all off-road conditions. These drive modes include Normal, Sport, Tow/Haul, Eco, Grass/Gravel/Snow, Sand and Mud/Rut.
