Ford engineers have teamed up with the tire experts at Michelin to extensively study the Ford GT supercar and the Shelby GT350 Mustang to create high-performance summer tires for the 2018 Ford Mustang GT. The end result of that team-up are all-new custom Michelin Pilot Sport 4S high-performance summer tires that give your new Ford Mustang GT enhanced wet and dry grip, optimized braking distance and improved lateral handling performance. These all-new tires also team up with the 2018 Ford Mustang GT’s available drag strip mode and its all-new 10-speed automatic transmission to give you the ability to go from zero to 60 miles per hour in less than four seconds, which is a record. These new tires are able to work so seamlessly with the new Ford Mustang GT thanks to an ultra-reactive tread pattern that continuously adapts to the road, a hybrid belt of aramid and nylon to enhance the transmission of steering input to the road, a hybrid elastomer for the outer rib to optimize drive grip and an inner rib made of a mix of functional elastomer and silica to optimize wet grip and braking.
