Ford is continuing a legacy it began back during the 2005 model year, the year they first unveiled the 2005 Ford Escape Hybrid – which just so happened to be first hybrid SUV on the planet – with the new 2021 Ford Escape lineup. That’s because this new Ford Escape lineup at Brandon Ford in Tampa, FL, features two new hybrid powertrain options to choose from – both of which feature a best-in-class EPA-estimated driving range of up to 550 miles. Yes, you read that right and it’s not a typo – 550 miles! Which New 2021 Ford Escape Trim Levels at Brandon Ford in Tampa FL Offer a Hybrid Powertrain Option?
While it’s true that the 2021 Ford Escape lineup has two hybrid powertrain options to choose from, not all 2021 Escape trim levels can feature a hybrid powertrain. So, let’s take a look at which 2021 Escape trim levels can feature a hybrid powertrain. Starting things off are the 2021 Ford Escape SE Sport and the 2021 Ford Escape Titanium, both of which feature a standard hybrid powertrain. This hybrid powertrain features a new Atkinson cycle 2.5-liter hybrid engine paired with an electronic continuously variable transmission. It should be noted that both of these trim levels have a regular gas engine available, as well, for those who don’t want a hybrid powertrain – though with a combined system horsepower output of 198 and an electric-only top speed of 85 miles per hour, we’re not sure who wouldn’t want it. The plug-in hybrid powertrain option is available on all 2021 Escape trim levels other than the 2021 Escape S and the aforementioned 2021 Escape SE Sport.
