The Ford F-150 is a half-ton pickup truck with a wheelbase that ranges from 122.8 inches to 157.2 inches. The Ford Super Duty® is a heavy-duty pickup truck with a wheelbase that starts at 141.4 inches for Regular Cab models and extends to 175.9 inches with the Crew Cab and 8-foot bed. 

The Ford F-150 is available in a trio of body styles Regular Cab, SuperCab, and SuperCrew Cab with 5.5-foot, 6.5-foot, and 8-foot bed length options. The Ford Super Duty® employs a similar design with Regular Cab, SuperCab, and Crew Cab variants with a choice between a 6.75-foot bed or an 8-foot bed. With a larger and heavier platform, the Ford Super Duty® will deliver higher towing and payload numbers. New 2025 Ford F-150 models will start at $38,810 while the Ford Super Duty® starts at $45,300.

The Ford F-150 sets the bar high when it comes to power in the half-ton pickup truck class with a 325-horsepower 2.7-liter EcoBoost® V-6, a 400-horsepower 5.0-liter V-8, a 400-horsepower 3.5-liter EcoBoost® V-6, a High-Output 450-horsepower 3.5-liter EcoBoost® V-6 specific to the Raptor, a 720-horsepower Supercharged 5.2-Liter V-8 specific to the Raptor R, and a fuel-efficient 430-horsepower 3.5-liter PowerBoost® Hybrid.

The heavy-duty Ford Super Duty® possesses a quartet of engine options to choose from with a 405-horsepower 6.8-liter V-8, a 430-horsepower 7.3-liter V-8, a 475-horsepower 6.7-liter Power Stroke® Turbodiesel, and a High-Output 500-horsepower 6.7-liter Power Stroke® Turbodiesel that produces 1,200 pound-feet of torque.

Towing and Payload Capacity

Do you have a trailer you need to tow? Towing and payload capacity will not be a problem no matter which Ford pickup truck you choose in this comparison. When you opt for the Ford F-150, you will benefit from a maximum towing capacity of 13,500 pounds with the 3.5-liter EcoBoost® V-6 engine and a maximum payload of 2,440 pounds. The Ford Super Duty® gives drivers the option of conventional or 5th-wheel towing with a maximum towing capacity of 28,000 pounds with a conventional setup and 40,000 pounds with a 5th-wheel setup. Ford Super Duty® models have a maximum payload of 8,000 pounds with the right setup.
