Ford made breaking news recently by announcing an all-new addition to the company’s model lineup. Called the EcoSport, this fun subcompact crossover will now be entering the North American market in 2018. The Ford EcoSport engine options and performance will help this car earn excellent fuel economy ratings while offering the practicality of a crossover body style.
Two engines will be offered on Ford EcoSport models. First up is one of the most impressive engines Ford has, the EcoBoost 1.0-liter three-cylinder. Performance numbers for the EcoSport are not yet available, but this engine is also offered on the 2017 Ford Fiesta. On the Fiesta, the is able to deliver 123 horsepower and 125 pound-feet of torque while earning an estimated 31 miles per gallon in the city and 41 miles per gallon on the highways. Estimates for the EcoSport will most likely be different, but this gives a good illustration of the capabilities of the impressive engine.

The new crossover can also be equipped with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. Four-cylinder models also include Ford’s Intelligent four-wheel drive system as standard equipment. The available four-wheel drive will give the EcoSport a ton of versatility for such a small vehicle. Both engines are paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.
