The new 2021 Ford Explorer lineup has arrived here at Brandon Ford in Tampa, FL, and it’s brought with it a slew of new engine and powertrain options that are sure to thrill both fans of the best-selling three-row SUV in the country and those who have yet to experience the greatness that is the Ford Explorer. And, for fans of the impressively all-new 2020 Explorer lineup, the 2021 Explorer lineup once again includes a hybrid powertrain and a Ford Performance Team engineered ST powertrain. So, without further ado – especially now that it’s here on our Brandon Ford lot – let’s check out the horsepower and torque ratings for the 2021 Ford Explorer lineup.

Examining the Gas-Powered and Hybrid Engine Lineup for the 2021 Ford Explorer Lineup

Ford surprised everyone during the last model year when they announced the engine lineup for the new Ford Explorer lineup at Brandon Ford in Tampa, FL, thanks to the inclusion of the hybrid powertrain option and the Ford Performance Team engineered ST powertrain option – and that’s to say nothing about the other returning engine options for the 2021 Explorer lineup. So, let’s get right down to it. The base 2021 Ford Explorer model, the 2021 Ford Explorer XLT and the 2021 Ford Explorer Limited all feature a 2.3-liter EcoBoost I-4 engine offering a horsepower rating of 300 and a torque rating of 310 pound-feet. The 2021 Ford Explorer Platinum features a 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 engine offering a horsepower rating of 365 and a torque rating of 380 pound-feet. The 2021 Ford Explorer ST also features a 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 engine, though it’s been enhanced by the Ford Performance Team to offer a horsepower rating of 400 and a torque rating of 415 pound-feet. Finally, there’s the 2021 Ford Explorer Hybrid, which features a 3.3-liter V6 Hybrid powertrain offering a combined horsepower rating of 318 and a torque rating of 322 pound-feet.
