How does the 2017 Ford Focus RS all-wheel drive system work?

Published on Mar 3, 2023 by Product Expert

One of the new technology features that will be available on the 2017 Ford Focus RS is the new Ford Performance All-Wheel Drive system. This revolutionary new technology will help maximize the performance of this hot hatchback. So how does the 2017 Ford Focus RS all-wheel drive system work?

2017 Ford Focus RS Performance Technologies

Adaptability is the key element of the Ford Performance All-Wheel Drive system. The technology is able to disperse the engine performance out over all four wheels of the Focus RS. Up to 70 percent can be directed to the rear wheels. Additionally, up to 100 percent of the power can be sent to either side of the car. The system is able to adapt the power distribution based on the situation and road conditions.

The all-wheel drive system is also paired with Dynamic Torque Vectoring, two-mode dampers, tuned electric power-assisted steering and rigid front knuckle suspension technologies, giving drivers even more control over the car and eliminating understeer. For even more fun, the 2017 Ford Focus RS offers a special drift mode.

2017 Focus RS models will come equipped with several interior upgrades as well. The car offers RS-themed floor mats, interior trim, gear shifter, leather-wrapped steering wheel and RECARO sport seats. Exterior upgrades include an RS-exclusive grille, spoiler and exterior styling.
