Published on Dec 14, 2024 by Brandon Ford

The Ford Mustang will check all the boxes when it comes to power and performance — but the 2025 Ford Mustang GTD takes on-track performance to the next level. To prove its mettle in a competitive performance car class, the Ford Mustang GTD headed to the famed Nürburgring Nordschleife track. Potential car buyers who crave heart-pounding thrills on the track want to know — how fast is the 2025 Ford Mustang GTD — and this trip to the Nürburgring will answer your questions.

Ford Mustang GTD Breaks Records at Nürburgring

When the 2025 Ford Mustang GTD made its debut at the Nürburgring — it was ready to impress. The Nürburgring Nordschleife is nicknamed the Green Hell  and is a 12.9-mile track with an incredible 73 turns that test a vehicle’s power as well as its agility. The Ford Mustang GTD driven by Dirk Müller ran the 12.9-mile track in 6.57.685. According to Nürburgring Nordschleife records, this is the fifth fastest time ever by a stock production sports car — and the first production car from an American brand to complete a sub-seven-minute time.

What Are the 2025 Ford Mustang GTD Performance Features?

A street-legal and track-ready supercar, the 2025 Ford Mustang GTD is built around a 5.2-liter Supercharged V-8 that produces 815 horsepower with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. The Mustang GTD employs a lightweight platform with a carbon fiber driveshaft and an eight-speed rear transaxle that translates to almost perfect balance with near 50-50 weight distribution. This level of balance paired with an innovative semi-active suspension results in the responsive handling necessary to set records at the Nürburgring.

The aggressive style of the 2025 Ford Mustang GTD employs lightweight and aerodynamic components that lend themselves to speed and performance on the track. An aggressive rear wing creates massive downforce to help you maintain control on corners. High-performance six-piston Brembo® forged carbon ceramic brakes with 325-milimeter front and 345-milimeter rear Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires make the Mustang GTD ready for the track. Inside, the Ford Mustang GTD features Track Mode for the suspension, a driver-focused cockpit with a 13.2-inch Ford SYNC® 4 touchscreen display, and a 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster.
