The return of the Ford Ranger to the lineup has given car shoppers an alternative to the full-size 2023 Ford F-150 and the 2024 Ford Ranger continues to improve on the design. The 2024 Ford Ranger employs a fully boxed high-strength steel frame with an extended wheelbase that adds two more inches to the bed length. To make the Ford Ranger more capable on the trail, the rear shocks and shock mounts have been moved to the outside of the frame rails to improve control, ground clearance, approach angles and departure angles.
A pair of standard powertrains - a 270-horsepower 2.3-liter EcoBoost® four-cylinder and a 315-horsepower 2.7-liter EcoBoost® V-6 - married to a 10-speed SelectShift® automatic transmission provide more power and torque than the previous model. When the 2024 Ford Ranger is equipped for towing, it will tow up to 7,500 pounds of cargo and will provide drivers with a 1,805-pound maximum payload capacity.
Technology promises to be a hallmark of the 2024 Ford Ranger and that technology is applied to the Ford Ranger design to make it more capable than ever before. Features like Pro Trailer Backup Assist™ and the Trailer Brake Controller make towing heavy loads safer and brand-new technology like the Zone Lighting make handling cargo at night much simpler. Here is a closer look at some of our favorite towing features for the 2024 Ford Ranger.
Trailer Brake Controller - A standard feature for the Ford Ranger Raptor and available on Ranger XLT and Ranger Lariat trim levels, the Trailer Brake Controller provides additional on-demand brake assistance when you brake. The Trailer Brake Controller controls the brakes on your trailer and applies the trailer brakes when you apply the brakes on your Ford Ranger, making it easier to stop with a heavy load.
Pro Trailer Backup Assist™ - Do you struggle to backup your trailer or boat? The class-exclusive Pro Trailer Backup Assist™ will help and is available with XLT, Lariat and Raptor trim levels. This system allows the driver to turn a knob in the cabin to indicate where you want your trailer to go and the innovative system will steer your truck to position your trailer where you want it.
360-Degree Camera System - The 2024 Ford Ranger Lariat comes standard with a 360-Degree Camera System that will help you position your trailer where you need it and monitor your surroundings with a bird’s eye view of your vehicle. The 360-Degree Camera System uses front, rear and side cameras to create a comprehensive 360-degree view of your truck and trailer.
Zone Lighting - This brand-new feature is perfect for individuals who work at night or enjoy the outdoors. Zone Lighting can be controlled via the Ford SYNC® 4A touchscreen display and allows you to select exterior lights in five zones - front, rear, right side, left side and in the truck bed. Light up the night at your campsite or job site and make work and play that much better.
