2018 Ford Explorer vs 2017 Ford Explorer

You know how if you gamble, you’re supposed to do it responsibly? Well, there’s no safer bet than saying the Ford Explorer is going to extend its 25-year run as the best-selling SUV in America at least another year. That’s because the 2018 Ford Explorer features three powerful and efficient engine choices, a roomy and comfortable interior, a sleek and sporty exterior and a wide array of advanced new safety, technology, comfort and convenience features that all come together to make the most impressive Explorer yet.

And, yes, we know that may be hard to believe, especially after spending a year with the 2017 Ford Explorer. As a testament to the 2017 Explorer’s greatness, much of what made it so impressive has been carried over to the new Ford Explorer, with added features and improvements along the way. And we’re going to touch on all of that with this 2018 Ford Explorer versus 2017 Ford Explorer head-to-head model comparison.

The engines of the 2017 Ford Explorer are one of the carry-overs for the 2018 Ford Explorer. So, the base engine of the new Ford Explorer offers 290 horsepower and 255 pound-feet of torque while getting 17 miles per gallon in the city and 24 miles per gallon on the highway, just like the 2017 Explorer. And also like the 2017 Ford Explorer, your horsepower and torque numbers rise as you rise up the available engine ladder.

Along with some stylish exterior and interior updates and enhancements, one of the biggest improvements the 2018 Explorer achieves over the 2017 Explorer comes in the form of the all-new Safe and Smart Package.
