The Ford Performance Team has long been known for creating some of the most powerful, most capable, and most fun to drive new vehicles around. But before the 2019 Ford Edge ST hit our lot here at Brandon Ford in Tampa, FL, those new Ford Performance Team models were made up solely of new Ford cars, hatchbacks and trucks. And now that the 2019 Edge ST has become such an incredible hit, more new Ford SUVs built by the Ford Performance Team have arrived – models like the new 2021 Ford Explorer ST right here at Brandon Ford.
Interestingly, the new 2021 Explorer lineup is once again reaching both ends of the spectrum for the new model year thanks to the aforementioned 2021 Explorer ST and the new 2021 Ford Explorer Hybrid. But it’s the Ford Performance Team-engineered new Ford Explorer ST that we’re going to focus on here. With a next generation engine and a fun to drive nature unmatched by any other SUV out there – performance or otherwise – the 2021 Ford Explorer ST is definitely on the must-drive list of anyone and everyone with the desire to go on the ride of their life.
We’re going to cover some of the other impressive aspects of the new 2021 Ford Explorer ST in a moment, but first we’re going to pop the hood to see what the Ford Performance Team is using to power this impressive and performance-oriented new Ford SUV.
The new 2021 Ford Explorer ST is powered by a 3.0-liter EcoBoost engine featuring a horsepower rating of 400 and a torque rating of 415 pound-feet. Put it all together and you’re getting a top speed of 143 miles per hour.
But the 2021 Ford Explorer ST is more than just impressive power and a dynamic driving experience. That’s because the 2021 Explorer ST also features a quick-shifting ten-speed automatic transmission and a standard 4-wheel drive system that itself features selectable traction control capabilities. You can also upgrade your 2021 Explorer ST with the available ST Street Pack and the available ST Track Pack.
To tie it all together, the 2021 Explorer ST boasts the same impressively spacious interior as the rest of the 2021 Explorer lineup – meaning it features 152.7 cubic-feet of total passenger volume and up to 87.8 cubic-feet of total cargo volume.
