1. Have a Designated Driver

If you are intoxicated and heading back home from a party, it’s always a good choice to have a sober friend drive you back. Ask for a designated driver even if you think you can handle yourself while under the influence. No matter how high alcohol tolerance you have, consumption affects your brain’s psychomotor skills and thus reaction time. You can also take public transit, but that depends on your situation.

If you can’t get a friend to drive you home, the best deal is to book a taxi or an Uber. Try delivering a speech or a straight line walk to test how drunk you are. The worse your talk and walk are, you’re excess of .08 BAC. Also, Uber and Lyft allow their hosts to “gift” a taxi ride to an intoxicated friend. You can use this offer to help a friend who cannot drive home safely.

2. Wait or Stop

Wait for two or three hours before you drive. Indulge in a conversation, assist in cleaning up, sit for a movie watching, or take a walk. The other way is to stop drinking 90 minutes before your designated leaving time.

3. Some More Suggestions on Safety and Prevention Tips for Drunk Driving

  • Don’t drink on an empty stomach.
  • Eat a big meal before the intake, as you won’t get drunk quickly.
