Production for the new Ford F-150 has started and on Tuesday Nov. 11 the first one came off the assembly line. The pickup goes on sale this December and Ford is calling it the the toughest, smartest, most capable F-150 Ever. With the 2015 Ford F-150 release date approaching quickly we want to go through each of those descriptions with you.
The toughest F-150 ever-the aluminum used to build the body of the new Ford is a high-strength, military-grade, aluminum alloy and is even more resistant to dents and dings than previous models and is paired with a new, high-strength steel frame. This alloy is also more resistant to corrosion than steel and is not affected in the event of paint being scratched or chipped.
The smartest – there are 11 new features for the Ford F-150, which are class exclusive. These features include the 360 degree camera view, remote tailgate release and park assist. These features are designed to create a convenient driving experience and one that makes parking and maneuvering in general, easier.
The most capable – the new F-150 is now 700 lbs. lighter than the year before, allowing it get even better fuel economy. There are also four options for engines. The pickup will also be able to tow 12,200 lbs and have a payload of 3,300 lbs. That is an increase of 1,100 lbs. for towing and 530 lbs. for payloads from the 2014 model.
The new Ford pickup is also expected to be dramatically more efficient than it has been in years past. Ford is hoping to announce an increase of at least 20 percent.
