What Is the 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse Engine?
Like the Ford Mustang Bullitt in 2001 – the Ford Mustang Dark Horse will provide drivers with a day-to-day performance option. When you look under the hood of the 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse will employ a high-performance variant of the classic 5.0-liter Coyote V-8 engine that is married to a six-speed Tremec® manual transmission or an available 10-speed automatic. The Ford Mustang Dark Horse will employ the most track-capable 5.0-liter Coyote V-8 to date – but official horsepower and torque numbers have not yet been released. When it arrives, the Ford Mustang Dark Horse is expected to target 500 horsepower and is built with modified piston connecting rods, a dual throttle-body intake and more.
A brand-new engine will be the focus of the 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse design – but it is far from the only feature that will upgrade performance. The aggressive and aerodynamic body design is punctuated by lower side skirts, a fixed rear wing, a track-inspired rear diffuser and a quad exhaust system. Ford Mustang Dark Horse entries employ a standard MagneRide® suspension system and Brembo® high-performance brakes.
The Ford Mustang Dark Horse is available with lightweight carbon fiber wheels that are built by Carbon Revolution and clad in Pirelli P Zero tires. The available Handling Package will upgrade performance on the track with an upgraded rear wing with an active Gurney Flap, stiffer springs, larger front and rear sway bars, wider Pirelli Trofeo tires and 19-inch wheels. Technology that will upgrade performance in the Ford Mustang Dark Horse include a 13.2-inch SYNC® 4 touchscreen infotainment system, a 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster and more.
