Engine and Transmission Features of the 2022 Ford Explorer

To fully explore the 2022 Ford Explorer, Ford has provided users with three available engine variants. The all-new 2022 Ford Explorer has a 2.3 L EcoBoost® engine that produces up to 300 HP that comes as the standard engine. The higher trims like the King Ranch®, Platinum, and ST models are powered by a heavy-duty twin-turbocharged 3.0 L V6 EcoBoost® engine that produces 400 HP. Ford had introduced the Hybrid engine for the Ford Explorer models in 2020. The 2022 Ford Explorer also has an available hybrid package that is being powered by a 3.3 L V6 hybrid engine that produces around 313 HP.

 

All the available engine has a 10-Speed Automatic Transmission as standard. The 2022 Ford Explorer comes with Rear Wheel Drive as standard unless opted for an available All Wheel Drive. The SUV, when correctly equipped, has the maximum towing capacity of 5,000 lbs. for the hybrid engines and 5,600 lbs. for the other engines. There is also an available Intelligent 4WD with Terrain Management System™ with seven selectable drive modes that can be accessed through a single knob in the central console. This feature makes dominating almost any terrain easy.
